Hot off the press – we’ve just received an email from ‘The Bridal Magazine’ to say we’re in the shortlist for ‘Videographer of the Year 2010′. It’s been running since May and has had at least 3000 brides taking part in the selection.

Wow, exciting!!!

ProVideo 2010 Awards Night – FX Films picks up 3rd place award!

Last week, at IOV‘s ‘Pro Video 2010′, I had the pleasure of giving 2 seminars on Wedding Cinematography to fellow colleagues and newbies to the industry. I want to thank everyone who attended and who came up afterwards with questions and compliments!

And what a brilliant awards night! Presented by Andrew Lancel from ‘The Bill’ (and more), awards were given out to companies who had made the shortlist nominations in several categories.
Well I was proud enough to have been awarded 3rd place in the Corporate category, for the ‘FX Films Cinematic Wedding Showreel’. See here for the IOV press release and here for the complete list of winners (with photos).

Thanks to IOV and all who were involved in running the show!

Below are photos of the event (inc. picking up the award, and the seminar), as well as the award-winning clip.

Claire and Kevin (Hitched.co.uk Winners!) – Wedding Highlights

Claire and Kevin:

Just over a year ago, FX Films (www.fxfilms.co.uk) and Lime Leaf Weddings (www.limeleafweddings.com) gave Hitched.co.uk their biggest competition prize to date: a combined and full wedding cinematography + photography package!

With over 1200 correct entries into the competition, we were completely overwhelmed.  As were our competition winners, Claire and Kevin:)

Nicola and Mark – Wedding Framegrabs

Nicola and Mark
The Powder Mills Hotel, Battle, East Sussex

We recently filmed a wedding for Nicola and Mark, at the stunning Powder Mills Hotel. Stunning because it had a long red carpet leading to an Orangery restaurant complete with vines and water fountain, extensive gardens and lakes, greek statues, and a beautiful new barn extension for the evening entertainment.

Highlights were the surprise choreographed 1st dance…and who could forget the ducklings that randomly walked into the Orangery during the wedding breakfast!

Here are some film framegrabs of the day:

Tracy and Mark – Wedding Highlights

Tracy and Mark:
RIBA, London

It’s not often you get an enquiry to film a wedding with a ’Sex and the City’ theme…so we made the most of it!  Filming as we paced through busy central London certainly drew a lot of attention – Tracy and her bridal party must have felt like celebrities!

I’ve tried to carry this theme across in the highlights clip, complete with sparkly titles and everything:)

A great wedding Tracy and Mark, you must have been so proud to have pulled it off so successfully!

p.s. Lovely to meet and work with you, Maria Murray, Segerius Bruce and Lisa (RIBA).
p.p.s. GOOD LUCK with your ‘Must Be The Music’ competition progress, CK Gospel Choir!!

Naz and Adam – Wedding Highlights

Naz and Adam:
West Stoke House, Chichester, West Sussex

West Stoke House is a beautiful Georgian designed house just outside of Chichester, boasting elegantly designed rooms and fantastic views, making it the perfect setting for Naz and Adam’s dream wedding. They had been planning their wedding for over a year and a half, so it was fantastic to capture their excitement and anticipation on the day itself, and get to know them in the build up to the day. Naz looked absolutely stunning and didn’t seem to stop smiling all day, much like her adoring husband!

Adam and Naz booked us as a Simplicity package with our favourite photographers, Lime Leaf Weddings, so it was great to catch up with them on the day, and work together with such a gorgeous and ‘up for anything’ couple. Although the day started off a bit cloudy, the sun seemed to break through in the afternoon just in time for the ‘confetti run’ and some very funky couple shots.

On a side note, Canon UK were kind enough to give me a test-drive of a brand new camcorder, the Canon XF305. Any camera-techies out there, can read my short review here.

Congratulations Naz and Adam!

Keeley and Francois – Wedding Highlights

Keeley and Francois:
Wasing Park, Aldermaston, Berkshire

There are few words that will be able to describe how much we loved this wedding, the venue, and the couple themselves.  I have no doubt you’ll see this from the clip itself:

And to work alongside close friends, Henley (FX Films and Lime Leaf Weddings) and Simon Kemp (Hyde End Studios) was … well … the ‘icing on the cake’ (sorry for that ;)

On a side note, Simon took a couple of photos of Henley and I that I’m <probably going to regret> sharing!
From left to right: 1) Myself and Henley posing our best boring poses, 2) a previous ‘Hyde End’ photo of Chris and I, 3) our new Karaoke addition to our packages (joke!)

Neil and Tomoyo – Wedding Highlights

Neil and Tomoyo:
Marriott Hotel West India Quay, Canary Wharf, London

Although we have been witness to many emotional weddings now, this was certainly one to make everyone well up!  It really was the most heart-warming speech from Tomoyo (the lovely bride) to Neil (her groom) and her family.

Oh, and before I forget, I want to say a HUGE thankyou to Neil and Tomoyo, Mark and Hazel Du Preez, as well as Yuriko Hiratomi.  They all ensured an amazing and memorable day.

Without further ado, I present to you an epic, dramatic and moving highlights clip, of their day.

Laura and Grant – Wedding Highlights

Laura and Grant:
Simplicity (FX Films + Lime Leaf Weddings = Cinematography + Photography)
Eastlands Estate, Billingshurst, West Sussex

If I was to tell you that the following clip contained nudity and nipple licking, would you carry on watching? Of course you would!

But they aren’t the main reasons to watch it … This was a fun-packed wedding on the hottest and brightest day of the year, and all the guests were up for a complete laugh and good time!

I don’t think Laura and Grant could have asked for a better day at a better venue even if they tried!
